Supporting high achieving students
Barton Peveril students perform significantly better at degree level than the national average for students from sixth form college, independent and state school backgrounds. Our Aspire programme is designed to provide opportunities for students to explore beyond their curriculum choices and engage with higher level work. It also addresses the specific needs of talented young athletes, dancers, musicians and others who perform and compete at national and international levels.
As a Gifted and Talented student you will follow a carefully tailored programme closely aligned to your career aspirations. You will be allocated a Pathway Leader well qualified to guide and inspire you in your chosen field. You will also have access to a wide variety of lectures and other events covering a broad spectrum of academic subjects and topics linked to higher level study skills and university applications.
Getting the right balance
Talented sixth form students often have heavy demands on their time at either end of the college day and at weekends. We recognise this and offer specialist advice on programmes of study that will enable you to achieve your best academic outcome while accommodating ongoing training, rehearsal or other recognised commitments.
Exceptional performance at GCSE is a good indicator of outstanding success in your A Levels, which is why we encourage our most able students to aim high in their choice of degree programmes at Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.
As well as demystifying the selection process through workshops and lectures, we actively encourage you to broaden your programme through the Extended Project and take advantage of subject extension activities and enrichment opportunities within individual departments.
