Adidas Cup
Friday 5th March saw students from Barton Peverils Community Sports leaders Award (CSLA) organising the annual Adidas Cup. The Adidas Cup is a competition for Year 7 girls football teams. Teams from local secondary schools are invited to take part each year. A high standard of football was displayed by the under 13 girls from across the region. Teams travelled from Romsey, Chandlers Ford, Winchester, Fair Oak and Hedge End.
The CSLA students ran the whole day, from refereeing to First Aid to coaching. The CSLA students also organised a series of games; a dribbling challenge, a target competition and an agility challenge. The girls took part in these while they had a break from their games in the main competition
Romsey School ran out eventual winners but were pushed very close by the team from Toynbee Sports College.

Volunteering Fair
Barton Peveril College held its first Volunteering Fair on Thursday 25 February to coincide with National Student Volunteering Week.
20 voluntary organisations arrived to man stands and give presentations to promote the various opportunities available both locally and nationally.
Students also had the opportunity to listen to talks by organisations about the benefits of work experience and volunteering. One of the most popular talks was from Southampton Hospital. With work experience become more vital for students that are considering a career in the medical field this talk gave the students information on how the scheme at Southampton Hospital worked, what was involved and the minimum commitment that students have to give.
The day was a great success with students being able to chat informally to the representatives and gather information on activities open to them.
With the current economic climate, volunteering has become increasingly important giving students the chance to gain transferable skills which when writing CV's or Personal Statements for university supports evidence of their development both spiritually, holistically and academically.
