A cold night in the open air with little more than cardboard and a sleeping bag for comfort marked the start of a fundraising day for The Society of St James.
Around 30 Student Committee and staff members slept overnight in the college quad to raise awareness of the harsh realities of homelessness and the vital work of St James’, which is Southampton’s largest homeless charity.
“It was a real eye opener,” said Student Committee member, Harrison Jones. “We endured for one night what millions of people face every night and it’s really made us think about the grim reality of homelessness and what so many people go though.”
