First Class Facilities
Barton Peveril College offers outstanding facilities and accomodation
for its students.

In January 2006, the College completed a £7million building development to create the 'Rose Building', which has provided over 3700 square metres of additional floor space and new facilities for Sport, Drama, Dance, Music and English.
This enhanced the already impressive facilities and equipment across College.
IT Facilities
There are extensive IT facilities throughout the College including an IT suite with over 50 computers, specific IT classrooms, IT rooms in many departments and a suite of computers in the Learning Resources centre.
All Students have access to all of the facilities and are allocated a College email account and home directory. Students have access to the College Intranet, their email and their home directory from home via the Internet.
The College has installed a site-wide wireless network. Users with wireless-enabled equipment can easily connect to the College network and access their email and home directory. The College is committed to learning through information technology and is continually developing and upgrading the facilities available to staff and students.
Learning Resource Centre
The library, IT facilities, learning support unit, group work areas and private study areas can all be found within the fully equipped Learning Resources Centre.
Careers Resource Centre
The Careers Resource Centre is well stocked, containing a range of information on higher education, employment and training. The Careers Department organises a comprehensive number of events including an Arts Fair, Higher Education Fair when more than 60 universities come to Barton Peveril and the annual ‘Futures Day’ when students meet university admissions tutors from over 40 of the most popular degree subjects as well as meeting local employers and Gap year organisations.
In addition, careers and Higher Education talks are held on a variety of topics, for example, interviewing techniques and personal statement writing. There is also an extensive Oxbridge Support Programme conducted throughout the year for interested students.
The College is very well supported by independent Personal Advisors from Hampshire Connexions Service who provide specialist careers advice to all students on an individual basis.
Lecture Theatre
A lecture theatre was created with retractable seating for 150 people.
Fully-equipped Classrooms
Classrooms are fully equipped with resources to enhance teaching and learning, including IT facilities, subject materials and displays, projectors and interactive whiteboards.
Science
The Science department has a range of fully equipped laboratories to meet the needs of the variety of science courses available.
Technicians are also on hand to support the teacher and help set up experiments.
Art
Barton Peveril has a number of resources for art students including a large art studio, photographic dark rooms and associated IT equipment, workshops and a display area for students work.
Drama and Dance
Within the Rose Building there is a 250-seat theatre, fully equipped with a state of the art control and lighting rigs, plus 2 drama studios and a purpose built dance studio.
Sport
A new sports hall was built as part of the latest building project complete with extensive equipment, which can be set up for the wide variety of sports available at Barton Peveril.
There is also a new 24-unit fitness suite, 3 specialist PE classrooms and new changing facilities.
Music
The Rose Building provides a musical recital room with a wide selection of instruments including 2 grand pianos. There is also a rehearsal room, 6 practice rooms (3 of which have a recording studio adjacent), 2 music technology IT rooms and a music technology drop in centre with IT equipment.
Languages
The languages department has a range of resources to help students, including language labs, IT equipment with specialist software, a video and cassette library, newspapers and magazines, and satellite television.
Student Services
The student services area supports students throughout their time at college, whether it’s a query about transport, exams, UCAS applications or if you would like to make a purchase from the shop, which stocks a range of course related items.
Student Area
The large student area contains a variety of food outlets and the student committee office. There is also information available in this area about activities going on in College and the wider community.
