Students starting with us in 2016 will take a mixture of the ‘old’ A Level syllabus and predominantly new A Levels/vocational equivalents being phased in from 2015.
Whether taking ‘new’ or ‘old’ courses, most students with good GCSE grades (averaging a B or higher) will study four subjects at Barton Peveril. We will enter students for AS Level exams at the end of most first year A Level courses.
All students have the opportunity to take additional activities plus an Extended Project, work experience or other course in their second year.
We’ll help you make your subject choices and agree the most appropriate programme of learning when you apply to study with us. Students who achieve mainly A or A* grades at GCSE will have the opportunity to follow our Gifted and Talented programme.
Minimum entry requirements
You will need a minimum of five C grades at GCSE to take A Levels and Level 3 vocational courses at Barton Peveril. Some courses will specify additional minimum grade or GCSE point score requirements. These are detailed in the prospectus and on the relevant course information sheets which may be updated at any time.
If you don’t quite make it we can look at a programme that might include Level 2 vocational courses and GCSEs in your first year and enable you to take A Levels or an equivalent vocational course later on. If you don’t have a C grade in Maths or English Language you will be expected to study these subjects as part of your programme at Barton Peveril.
