Gifted & Talented

Gifted & Talented

Supporting high achieving students

At Barton Peveril we’re committed to supporting the individual needs of students at the higher end of the academic spectrum, together with those who have exceptional talent such as sportspeople competing at national or international level.

As a Gifted and Talented student you will be actively encouraged  to look beyond your A Level syllabuses through a specialist programme designed to nurture and stimulate intellectual curiosity.

Getting the right balance

Talented sixth form students often have heavy demands on their time at either end of the college day and at weekends. We recognise this and offer specialist advice on programmes of study that will enable you to achieve your best academic outcome while accommodating ongoing training, rehearsal or other recognised commitments.

Maximising potential

Exceptional performance at GCSE is a good indicator of outstanding success in your A Levels, which is why we encourage our most able students to aim high in their choice of degree programmes at Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.

As well as demystifying the selection process through workshops and lectures, we actively encourage you to broaden your programme through the Extended Project and take advantage of subject extension activities and enrichment opportunities within individual departments. These include Olympiads, where you have the chance to test yourself against your regional and national peers in tasks that go beyond the scope of the A Level syllabus, and undergraduate level Open University modules.
